Degree Programs

Undergraduate Programs

BA Language and Literature (BALL)

The BALL Program interfaces language and literature and underlines their integrated significance in everyday life. It endeavors to approach the study of language as the application or product of a people’s unique use of language, as well as the study of literature not only as the imaginative expression of a writer or of a people but also as the singular or collective contribution of a writer and a people to the development of language. Hence, language and literature are understood and appreciated as interrelated areas that enrich each other. Aside from providing a balanced study of language and literature, both in English and Filipino, it also aims to promote awareness and understanding of the various cultures of the Philippines, with emphasis on the linguistic and literary traditions of Northern Luzon.

Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)

The BFA Program is envisioned to uphold responsibility, honor and excellence in the promotion of the visual arts in support of UP Baguio’s aim to nurture innovative programs to continue developing its niche in the Cordillera and Northern Luzon.

The BFA Program’s mission is to contribute to UP Baguio’s aim to create an impact through programs that are informed with a regional perspective and at the same time informed by a national and global outlook through the baccalaureate and certificate programs in Fine Arts which develop well-rounded individuals who promote the study, enrichment and preservation of traditional and contemporary art forms in the Philippines, and can become competent visual arts practitioners, teachers, and cultural workers who embody cultural rootedness and service to the region and the nation.

Certificate in Fine Arts (CFA)

The CFA is a three-year program that introduces the student to various areas of the visual arts. Designed to tap the indigenous cultures of Northern Luzon as sources of artistic inspiration, it provides many opportunities to utilize alternative sources of materials for art production. A CFA student can proceed to the BFA upon completion of the certificate program.

The MA Language and Literature Program

The Master of Arts in Language and Literature (MALL) is designed to provide training in language and literature as intersecting fields of study. It equips its students with theoretical and pedagogic competencies in these areas of knowledge, and provides a forum for critical discussions and studies on linguistic and literary issues. It also engages its students in significant research projects on various topics related language, literature and wider field of cultural studies.
