[CAC Student Output] ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE ART INDUSTRY | Exploring the Intersection of AI and Art: A Deep Dive into the Future of Creativity and Responsibility.
On March 29, 2025, the FA 191 Art Seminar II class hosted an insightful event titled "Working with Artificial Artist: Artificial Intelligence in the Art Industry" at the SIGLAT Baguio Youth Innovation Hub in the Convention Center. The event brought together a diverse group of illustrators, artists, engineers, and tech enthusiasts to discuss the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the art world, exploring both its potential and the challenges it poses.
The event featured a panel of speakers, including accomplished illustrators, Fine Arts instructors and artists such as Danielle Florendo and Reynaldo Senin, who shared their personal experiences with AI in their industries and their encounters with this. They were joined by Engr. Frederick Gabriel Richard Exibia and senior marketing & graphic designer Bryan Sombilon, who discussed the technical aspects of AI, how it works, and its evolving role in the art industry.
The discussions covered various aspects of AIโs influence on art, from the expansion of creative possibilities to the ethical dilemmas it introduces. While AI has revolutionized art creation, enabling artists to push boundaries and create in new, innovative ways, the panelists also explored concerns regarding authenticity and the potential devaluation of traditional artistry. They discussed how AI can assist in simplifying repetitive tasks and making art more accessible but also raised questions about the implications for human artists in a world where AI tools can replicate styles and generate artwork autonomously.
A major highlight of the event was an interactive workshop led by Engr. Adrian Leung, which focused on the use of AI in generating images and digital painting. The participants had the opportunity to experiment with AI-powered tools, gaining hands-on experience in creating digital art with the assistance of advanced AI technologies. This session not only provided valuable insight into the capabilities of AI but also sparked lively discussions about the evolving relationship between human creativity and machine-generated art.
The event culminated in an open discussion where attendees shared their views on AIโs role in the art world. Many participants expressed excitement about the democratizing potential of AI, allowing people without formal artistic training to engage in the creative process. However, others raised concerns about the potential consequences of AIโs widespread use, particularly in terms of its impact on the livelihoods of traditional artists.
In conclusion, "Working with Artificial Artist: Artificial Intelligence in the Art Industry" was a successful event that facilitated a rich exchange of ideas about the future of art in the age of artificial intelligence. Through dynamic discussions and hands-on workshops, attendees gained a deeper understanding of AIโs influence on the art world and the collaborative possibilities between technology and human creativity.
Watch the highlights from our event as experts discuss the evolving role of AI in art and the complex questions it brings to the forefront
