The BA Communication Program
The BA Communication program provides students with an in- depth understanding of critical and analytical frames used in the communication discipline. It implements a “major-minor” scheme where students select a major area and a minor area among broadcast communication, journalism, and speech communication (e.g., major in speech communication and minor in broadcast communication). Although the program offers concentration areas, it emphasizes their interrelatedness by providing a core curriculum that focuses on their shared conceptual structures, frameworks, and methodologies.

From Ili To City
From Ili To City
FROM ILI TO CITY (FITC) is a multimedia platform that specializes in digital storytelling. Derived from the word ili (an Igorot word that refers to one’s hometown, province, or place of origin), FITC features narratives about ordinary people leading extraordinary lives in the rural and urban sectors of the Cordillera community. The stories aim to inform, entertain, and educate the audience by providing them with unique perspectives on community issues and inspiring them to participate in community discussions. FITC conducts onsite screening and online streaming events showcasing audio and video programs, documentaries, and drama productions produced by communication students of the College of Arts and Communication (CAC) of the University of the Philippines Baguio. It serves as a practical training ground where young producers apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in broadcast research, conceptualization and pitching, scriptwriting, performance, production, operations management, audience engagement, and feedback evaluation. The broadcast communication courses usually involved in its production are the Broadcast Communication 130 (Program Planning and Building), Broadcast Communication 120 (Documentary for Broadcast and Related Media), and Broadcast Communication 122 (Broadcast Drama) classes facilitated by Asst. Prof. Dennis V. Gutierrez.
