
Instituted in 2002, the BA Communication Program offers three areas of concentration: broadcast communication, journalism, and speech communication. Students in the program choose a major and a minor from these areas (major in broadcast communication, major in journalism, major in speech communication, minor in broadcast communication, minor in journalism, minor in speech communication). The program requires a set of core communication courses for all three disciplines.
The BA Communication curriculum requires the completion of 135 units of general education courses (36 units), core communication courses (21 units), concentration courses (36 units), minor courses (21 units), elective courses (15 units), and other required courses (6 units). Major-specific internship courses and a thesis course are included in the required courses to pass before the completion of the degree.
