Maria Rosario Yumul-Florendo is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Language, Literature and the Arts in the College of Arts and Communication, University of the Philippines Baguio. She obtained her graduate degree in Language and Literature in 2009 from U.P. Baguio, and B.A. English major in Creative Writing (Cum Laude) in 1997 from U.P. Diliman. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Applied Linguistics at Lancaster University, U.K. She has read and published papers in both local and international fora. Her research interests include language variety and variation, language teaching and linguistic landscapes. Her most recent publication, which she co-authored with Sebastian Muth of Lancaster University, is titled “Doing space: The pragmatics of language and space” included in the Handbooks of Pragmatics [HOPS] edited by Hausendorf, H., & Jucker, A. H. This has also been recognized by the UP System and given the International Publication Award in 2022.
