FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC The Cordillera Studies Center is inviting everyone to a CSC Research Lecture Series with Asst. Prof. Leia Fidelis Gisela F. Castro-Margate and Jethro Bryan S. Andrada from the Department of Communication, College of Arts and Communication, UP Baguio. See you on 24 September 2025 (Wednesday), 10:30 am onwards, at the CSS AVR, UP Baguio. Kindly pre-register through this link https://bit.ly/CSCLec0924 https://bit.ly/CSCLec0924 https://bit.ly/CSCLec0924 Description of the Presentation Last year, the longest-running community newspaper in the country, Baguio Midland Courier, ceased operations after a 77-year run. Having endured as an icon in the city, the publicationโ€™s loss was mourned by various publics and was deemed as one of the biggest blows to Philippine local journalism in recent memory. Given the need for journalists today to upskill and digitize to avoid a fate similar to Midlandโ€™s, this presentation is concerned with answering two questions: how are the remaining community media in Baguio faring? And how do they continue to survive today? We use platform configuration as our guiding concept in unraveling the new practices and strategies Cordilleran newsrooms employ to thrive on social media. By doing so, we also probe the possibility of developing a sustainable model of community journalism in a time of inevitable digital transition. #CordilleraStudiesCenter #UPBaguio

โ€ Tumitindig ang temang ito sa pinakabuod ng alituntuning pamatnubay ng UPโ€”Honor and Excellence in the Service of the Nationโ€”dahil hindi lamang ito isang selebrasyon, kundi isang malawakang pagkilos ng Sistemang UP para sa pagsusulong ng wikang Filipino at mga wika ng Pilipinas, alinsunod sa UP Patakarang Pangwika. | Teatro Amianan | Kasama sina Kom. Ruth M Tindaan, PhD, Komisyoner ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino at Kawaksing Propesor sa Departamento ng Wika, Panitikan at mga Sining, UP Baguio, at Prop. Willy V. Alangui, PhD, Pangulo ng All UP Academic Employees Union Baguio at Propesor sa Departamento ng Matematika at Computer Science, UP Baguio EKSIBIT NG MGA PROYEKTO SA WIKA, KULTURA AT LIPUNAN | 2 - 5 Setyembre WIKAALAMAN QUIZ BEE 2025 | 5 Setyembre 1:45 - 4:15 n.h. Titled "Iskulumbing: Reading Delfin Tolentino, Jr.," the book gathers together essays, poetry, and artworks written and created by friends, colleagues, and family members in tribute to Prof. Emeritus Tolentinoโ€™s legacy in the academe, as well as in the art world. The volume was edited by associate professors Bienvenido Tapang, Jr. and Grace Celeste Subido. The event was part of the College of Arts and Communicationโ€™s celebration of Pista ng mga Wika. Earlier, on August 8, 2025, the art exhibition "Our Mother of Pearl: Delfin Tolentino, Jr.โ€™s Art Collages" opened, featuring a collection of Sir Delโ€™s works using the digital collage medium. โ€œIskulumbing,โ€ the distinctive email address that Sir Del once used, has now become a symbol of remembrance.
