The University of the Philippines Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development, in cooperation with the University of the Philippines Baguio Cordillera Studies Center and the College of Arts and Communication, will be conducting talks on expanding Research and Publication in the Humanities on May 14, 2026 (Thursday) from 8 AM to 5 PM at the College of Social Sciences, Audio Visual Room. Titled "Dunong, Dama, at Dangal," the one-day event features lectures and discourses delivered by experts from both UP Diliman and Baguio. The series of discussions designed to educate and encourage participants to publish with the University of the Philippines. The event will cover matters on publishing in the humanities, experiences on peer review processes, and the selection and options for topics, as well as engaging communities for research and study. The event is open to all interested participants.

UP Baguio College of Arts and Communication Honors College Scholars The University of the Philippines Baguio College of Arts and Communication proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of its College Scholars during the College Scholars' Convocation on April 27, 2026 at CAC Teatro Amianan. A total of 202 students were awarded for the second semester of Academic Year 2024–2025, while 241 students earned the distinction in the first semester of Academic Year 2025–2026. Dean Io M. Jularbal, Ph.D., commended the scholars for their dedication and perseverance, emphasizing the value of their accomplishments to the College community. “We at the College of Arts and Communication value your achievements as these are what inspire us to be better at what we do. This recognition is the product of your hard work and perseverance, accomplishments that we truly value and take pride in,” Dean Jularbal said. “Take these triumphs with you wherever you go and use these to transform yourselves to be the best version you can be. The UP Baguio Fine Arts program and FA 192 BC 1 present an Artist Talk with Pepot Atienza on April 24 (Friday) at CAC Teatro Amianan, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM! There will also be a special screening of the animated short film Daisy! Pepot Atienza, also known by his label Pepot ART, is a multi- disciplined artist specializing in kids' content, an aspiring filmmaker, and an advocate for children's rights based in Quezon Province, Philippines. His diorama and children's illustration artworks have been recognized by both local and international illustration award-giving bodies and are notable for their uniqueness in style. Currently, Pepot is an active member of various art organizations,facilitating workshops, volunteering for NGOs, and serving as a key speaker at art talks. These achievements inspire Pepot to teach and share the joy of creating art in its many forms-children's book illustration, animation, and filmmaking. UMPIL TO HOLD 52nd NATIONAL WRITERS' CONGRESS The Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL), the country's largest creative writers' group, will hold its 52nd National Writers' Congress on Saturday, 25 April 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the College of Social Sciences Audio-Visual Room, University of the Philippines Baguio. This annual gathering coincides with National Literature Month and centers on the theme: "Harayang Pampanitikan sa Katwiran at Paninindigan ng Bayan" (Literary Imagination for the Nation's Reason and Resolve). National Artist for Film Kidlat Tahimik will deliver the keynote lecture at the Congress. He will discuss the theme based on his lifelong practice of promoting and empowering the nation's imagination. The first part of the Congress will feature the two UMPILAN Writers' Fora. Forum 1 will discuss "Etika/Estetika" (Ethics/Aesthetics) with Luchie Maranan of the Baguio Writers Group and Ariel Tabag of GUMIL Filipinas as panelists. Forum 2 will feature poet-journalist Franklin Cimatu and anthropologist-writer Padmapani Perez discussing "Panitik/Pagtindig" (Writing/Making a Stand). The highlight of the Congress is the awarding ceremonies for the 2026 Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas (for Filipino writers), the 2026 Gawad Paz Marquez Benitez (for teachers of Philippine languages and literatures), and the 2026 Gawad Pedro Bucaneg (for significant literary-cultural groups). This year's Balagtas awardees are Glecy C. Atienza (Play in Filipino), Jose Wendell P. Capili (Essay and Poetry in English), Franklin Y. Cimatu (Poetry in Filipino and English), Richel G. This book is a culmination of over 20 years of research into Philippines history, exploring pre-colonial and colonial eras, languages, legends, and the stories of resistance and survival. For students who cross-registered at one time or another in other U.P. campuses ✓ check with your College SRE or OUR re: transmittal of official Report of Grades (ROGs), UP Form 5 (UP Certificate of Registration), and copy of change of matriculation, if applicable ✓ if none, follow-up and ask the campus where you cross-registered to transmit Form 5, ROGs, completion/removal grades, and changes of matriculation, if applicable, to U.P. Baguio NOTE: Students may hand carry ROGs and/or completion/removal grades ONLY IF these are in a sealed envelope. 2. For students who substituted courses ✓ check with your College SRE if official substitution forms have been accomplished and submitted to the Office of the University Registrar 3.
