UP Baguio College of Arts and Communication Honors College Scholars The University of the Philippines Baguio College of Arts and Communication proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of its College Scholars during the College Scholars' Convocation on April 27, 2026 at CAC Teatro Amianan. A total of 202 students were awarded for the second semester of Academic Year 2024โ2025, while 241 students earned the distinction in the first semester of Academic Year 2025โ2026. Dean Io M. The college convocation will promptly start at 9:00 AM. Registration will start at 8:30 AM at the entrance of Teatro Amianan. Here are some reminders for students and parents who will be attending the college convocation: -Wear semi-formal or formal attire. -Wearing of Sablay is NOT allowed. -Parents, relatives, and loved ones may attend. The UP Baguio Fine Arts program and FA 192 BC 1 present an Artist Talk with Pepot Atienza on April 24 (Friday) at CAC Teatro Amianan, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM! There will also be a special screening of the animated short film Daisy! Pepot Atienza, also known by his label Pepot ART, is a multi- disciplined artist specializing in kids' content, an aspiring filmmaker, and an advocate for children's rights based in Quezon Province, Philippines. His diorama and children's illustration artworks have been recognized by both local and international illustration award-giving bodies and are notable for their uniqueness in style. Currently, Pepot is an active member of various art organizations,facilitating workshops, volunteering for NGOs, and serving as a key speaker at art talks. These achievements inspire Pepot to teach and share the joy of creating art in its many forms-children's book illustration, animation, and filmmaking. UMPIL TO HOLD 52nd NATIONAL WRITERS' CONGRESS The Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL), the country's largest creative writers' group, will hold its 52nd National Writers' Congress on Saturday, 25 April 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the College of Social Sciences Audio-Visual Room, University of the Philippines Baguio. This annual gathering coincides with National Literature Month and centers on the theme: "Harayang Pampanitikan sa Katwiran at Paninindigan ng Bayan" (Literary Imagination for the Nation's Reason and Resolve). National Artist for Film Kidlat Tahimik will deliver the keynote lecture at the Congress. He will discuss the theme based on his lifelong practice of promoting and empowering the nation's imagination. The first part of the Congress will feature the two UMPILAN Writers' Fora. Forum 1 will discuss "Etika/Estetika" (Ethics/Aesthetics) with Luchie Maranan of the Baguio Writers Group and Ariel Tabag of GUMIL Filipinas as panelists. Forum 2 will feature poet-journalist Franklin Cimatu and anthropologist-writer Padmapani Perez discussing "Panitik/Pagtindig" (Writing/Making a Stand). The highlight of the Congress is the awarding ceremonies for the 2026 Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas (for Filipino writers), the 2026 Gawad Paz Marquez Benitez (for teachers of Philippine languages and literatures), and the 2026 Gawad Pedro Bucaneg (for significant literary-cultural groups). This year's Balagtas awardees are Glecy C. Atienza (Play in Filipino), Jose Wendell P. Capili (Essay and Poetry in English), Franklin Y. Cimatu (Poetry in Filipino and English), Richel G. This book is a culmination of over 20 years of research into Philippines history, exploring pre-colonial and colonial eras, languages, legends, and the stories of resistance and survival. Dorain Merina, a poet, journalist, and translator of Ivatan descent, weaves together voices and testimonies of healers, soldiers, and chanters who shaped these islands. IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR CANDIDATES FOR GRADUATION (2ND SEMESTER AY 2025-2026) Please check the important dates for graduating students at the infographic below. OTHER MATTERS: 1. For students who cross-registered at one time or another in other U.P. campuses โ check with your College SRE or OUR re: transmittal of official Report of Grades (ROGs), UP Form 5 (UP Certificate of Registration), and copy of change of matriculation, if applicable โ if none, follow-up and ask the campus where you cross-registered to transmit Form 5, ROGs, completion/removal grades, and changes of matriculation, if applicable, to U.P. Baguio NOTE: Students may hand carry ROGs and/or completion/removal grades ONLY IF these are in a sealed envelope. 2. For students who substituted courses โ check with your College SRE if official substitution forms have been accomplished and submitted to the Office of the University Registrar 3. Re: non-academic deficiencies โ check with your adviser or College SRE as soon as possible if you have completed all PE & NSTP requirements for graduation โ early enough, check with your College SRE or OUR if all non-academic documents are in order: senior high school card (Form 138), permanent high school records (Form 137) and legible copy of PSA birth certificate (with amended copy from Philippine Statistics Authority, formerly NSO and Local Civil Registry Office, if applicable) 4.
