This March 2026, the Dulaang UP Baguio will bring life to Ms. Danielle Florendo's recently published children's storybook, "Kaub-ofuden Shin Lijang Utah" (The Legend of Utah Cave), with a stage production in partnership with PAGTA-UPB. With this, DUPB is looking for aspiring actors and production staff to partake in bringing the story on stage. The following cast descriptions are what we're looking for the upcoming open auditions: MATANDANG BABAE - Nirerespeto siya sa kanyang komunidad at laging pinakikinggan ng mga bata. Malumanay ang kanyang tindig, ngunit ay mayroong maawtoridad na awra sa kabila ng maamo niyang mukha. BINATA 1 - Masipag, ma-respeto sa pamilya at sa kalikasan. BINATA 2 - Malaki ang presensya at malakas ang boses, ngunit makulit rin ang personalidad. BATANG BABAE - 6-7 anyos; maligalig, mausisa, pala-tanong. For cast auditions, prepare a (30-60 seconds) monologue performance. The monologue should be appropriate to the character you want to audition for. We have now refreshed the TP form for Comm 10 and M.S. 11. For those who do not have the course in their AMIS, you may request for another TP (if the course is not listed on classes not available for TP) today. For BA Comm majors who requested for COMM/BC/Journ/Speech courses last January 12 and 13, please wait for your request to be processed. Results of your enlistment request will be notified via email as soon as possible. We apologize for the delay of processing your enlistment due to the magnitude of requests we received, as well as other factors that affect the enlistment. To ensure a smoother process of your enlistment, please read the reminders below: *Please remove the bookmarked courses first before enlisting/cancelling a course. *Avoid making multiple request of the same course to enlist/cancel. *Making a TP request does not mean that you will automatically get admitted to the class. *This is for CAC COURSES only. Please do not use this form to TP/Cancel courses that are not offered by CAC. Please check the list of courses that are NOT AVAILABLE FOR TP. Courses with sections that still have available slots are not also available for TP (eg. CAC 100-A may be full, but CAC 100-B still has available slots). REJOINDER Information circulating in the social media page of the official student publication of the University of the Philippines Baguio state that there is a shortage of Journalism courses offered this second semester due to low demand, such that to graduate, senior Journalism majors should cross register at UP Diliman. If not, they might not graduate until the next academic year. This report is at best misleading and falsehood at its worst. The social media post presents the appearance that the outcome of a dialogue between some graduating journalism majors and the department chair yielded categorical recommendations. Far from it, the nature of the dialogue was exploratory and towards establishing ways and means to address the concerns of our senior journalism majors considering the material conditions attending their present standing. The issue is not about “a shortage of Journalism courses” but rather a question of whether the students could muster enough numbers to open a course. With the latter question, the answer is simply “no.” Thus, even if the department is willing and able to open a course, with not enough subscribers, the course will be dissolved. The small number of journalism majors is a fact that is not lost among this present cohort of students. Thus, part of the dialogue is the suggestion to merge the cohort into an equivalent course if only to preclude underloading. The choices mentioned here are options and part of the task is to determine which option would best respond to the situation. Decisions such as these are rules-based and require due diligence. To report based on second hand sources that the outcome is already decided is misinformation and fear mongering. The facts are plain to see, and to hide behind the purported safety of the phrase “this is a developing story” is the refuge of the uninitiated.
